Film Review | Dirty rotten scoundrels

Today's film is dirty rotten scoundrels. Me and my mum both love this film and watch it whenever it's played in TV, no matter how many times we've watched it.

The film is about two con men and it goes through the story of how they both try to con this women. Here's what it says online about the film, "When small-time con-artist Freddy Benson (Steve Martin) invades the lucrative Riviera turf of old pro Lawrence Jamieson (Michael Caine), the latter agrees to take him on and tutor him in the methods of fleecing wealthy widows. However, it is not long before Freddy is chafing at the second banana role imposed on him by Lawrence, and when a beautiful American heiress (Glenne Headly) arrives in town, the duelling scamsters agree to a contest; whoever gets their hands on her money first forces the loser to leave town for good..."

There's not much I don't like about this film apart from the fact that I would have loved to see a sequel to see what happens between the three main characters. The film leaves you wanting to know more which could be seen as a good thing, as then it's up to you where the story goes from there.

The film has two of my favourite actors in it. I love Michael Cain because he played Ebenezer Scrooge in Muppets Christmas carol and I love Steve Martin because I the Cheaper by the dozen films. I think both actors bring so much to their characters and I think they were the perfect duo to bring the character alive.

My favourite part of the film, this may sound really bad, but I love the scene with Ruprecht, They are conning all these women and Freddy has to be Ruprecht. There is a scene at the dinner table where 'Ruprecht' is sitting with a trident in one hand, a fork with a cork on it to prevent him hurting himself and others, and an eye patch. Me and my mum do like to do the Ruprecht voice every now and then.

It may sound silly but the main thing love about this film is the fact that both me and my mum love it. It's one film that we will sit and watch and will always laugh at the same parts.

Have you seen dirty rotten scoundrel? If so let me know in the comments and tell me if you liked it.

Bye for now xxx
