Film review | Inside out

I'm very excited to be reviewing the new Disney Pixar movie Inside out. I was really excited to go and see this when the trailers came out. I think its a very clever thing for Disney to have done, I think I tackles the subject of emotions really well and is great for children to learn from.
Here's what it says online about the film "Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. Written by Pixar"

I don't want you to come away from this annoyed that there were spoilers, so I wont give away the ending but I need to explain what happens to give a half decent review. For me all of the characters related to people I know. The focus on Riley and her emotions was incredible and I think it does well to teach children that their emotions are completely normal and that its okay to feel angry, sad, scared and everything thing else.
The character I relate most to is sadness, I'm not a really sad person but I think quite negatively about myself, I know I shouldn't but I feel like me and the sadness are quite similar. The story is based on the fact that Riley's core memory's are lost and joy goes to get them with sadness. They gather Riley's core emotions that control the personality islands but they cant get back to headquarters. Its really sad to watch because while joy and sadness are away Riley cant feel happy or sad because only anger, fear and disgust are in control. They do their best to make Riley happy but slowly but surely Riley's personality islands start to break and are lost. Her personality islands are hockey, goofball, friendship, family and honesty. In the end Riley decides to run away and she cant feel any emotion, the last island to be lost is the family island and its truly heart breaking to watching her personality break down.
On the way back to headquarters joy and sadness find Bing Bong, Riley's imaginary friend from when she was little. He is wondering around her long term memory and he says that he's out of a job. I think this is really clever of Disney. He's not needed anymore but he's still in her long term memory ready for the day she needs him again. Bing Bong has a song powered rocket that he plans to take Riley to the moon in.

This gets chucked away into the memory dump where memory's go but cant be got back. Both Bing Bong and joy fall into dump and when they find the rocket they decided to try to get back up to long term memory by singing Bing Bong and Riley's song to power the rocket. Bing Bong see's that he is fading away and so as he and joy are nearly out of the dump he lets go. Joy realises when she reaches the top and calls down to him. As Bing Bong slowly fades away he says to joy "Take her to the moon for me". My heart broke a little and I cried at that part. He knew that Riley doesn't need him any more so before he got lost forever he helps Riley find happiness again.
I'm not going to say what happens at the end but its so lovely to see that they use a certain character to their full potential and to show that its okay to feel that emotion sometimes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I felt I could relate to it really well and it meant so much to me personally. I have felt a little like Riley at times and I know how she as a character felt, it was so nice to see that Disney are teaching children that's its okay to have these emotions.
Have you been to see inside out yet. If so what did you think? Let me know in the comments.

What I got for my 18th birthday |

So on Sunday I  turned 18 and I got so many lovely presents. I'm not doing to post to show of, I'm doing it because I love reading these types of posts and I wanted to share with you some of the bits I got.
I was very surprised to the ladies at work all got me presents. I really feel part of the team now and it was so lovely that they thought of me. Here's what I got from them.

I got a lovely box of celebrations which was my favourite's.

I got these beautiful jewellery pieces. I got a bracelet and a matching necklace. I think they are both beautiful and I have been wearing them every day since I got them.

They got me the Brittany spears midnight fantasy perfume. I have wanted this for ages and I was surprised I got it. I haven't ever mentioned it to them so I was really happy to find this.
They also got me this gorgeous pastel yellow bag from new look. I don't normally g o for yellow but I love this bag and I was meaning to get myself a new one for ages.

They also got me a lovely card that everyone signed and on Sunday the girls made me a banner that they hung up and they even used sparkly glitter pens.
I was spoilt by the girls at work and I love all my presents.

From my aunt and uncle I got a lot of alcohol. A really lovely candle, money and my uncles also ordered me a Yankee candle shade which you put on your candles to stop them tunnelling. I'm sorry I didn't get any pictures but I only got them today.

My sister doesn't even remember the date of my birthday so I was totally shocked when she gave me my presents. She got me alcohol lots of chocolate and an orchid that I have been wanting for ages.

From my mum and dad I got some really special gifts
. I got this calendar block which I have been wanting for years. I always want to get myself one but I never bother. I was really happy when I unwrapped this.

My really special gift from my mum and dad was my chamilia bracelet. I love these bracelets and when they were on sale at Christmas my mum got it for me then. I knew I was getting it and I couldn't wait. The charms are gifts from my mum and aunt but we got them when they were on special deals because they are a little pricey.

Here's the bracelet with all my charms on.

The last thing from my mum and dad was this lovely jewellery stand that I have filled with all my bits and pieces.

I hope you enjoyed that post. I didn't write it to show off, I just thought some of you might be interested in what I got. I had such a lovely birthday and my family made it really special.

LIfe update | July 2015

In the last month my life has got a little bit busy. As some of you may know, I turned 18 on Sunday and I will be doing a "What I got for my 18th" post if you would be interested in that. Work has got a little more busy as the Summer holidays have begun. My job isn't hard but my manager has started giving me overtime because we are getting a lot more customers and she needs more people in. I'm not complaining about the overtime. She knows I'm saving up for an iMac so I'm glad of the extra money.
In a few weeks I'm working 8 days in a row...I'm going to be shattered but I'm not going to let it stop me blogging. My posts just might be up at weird times on my post days, so just bare with me for now. Speaking of work, everyone there has kept asking me the same question "How do you feel now you're 18?". I never know how to answers because in all honesty I don't feel any different. I can now legally drink and buy alcohol and that is a big thing for some people. I'll tell you a little secret, the thing I was most excited about was opening an eBay account. I know, I'm the height of excitement! I guess even though I know its a significant age to reach I haven't done anything in the past 18 years for reaching 18 to be an achievement.
For my 18th my mum and dad took me to see inside out. Before you ask, yes it was absolutely incredible and I want to go and see it again. I know that everyone else either has a massive party or goes out with their friends but for me it was special to go out with my mum and dad and do something just the three of us. I did feel a little guilty because my sister was at the gym.
Another life update for you. While I'm writing this I have a piece of glass embedded in my foot so I had my foot in a bowl of warm bubbly water, my mums sure it will help but her medical knowledge normally only goes as far as "put a cold sock on it" and that's for all illnesses or injury's. I'm not holding out for a miracle but I'm hoping that it comes out soon as in an hour I have to be at work and I'll be on my feet all day.
Oh and one last thing. I'm sure if you follow me and Lou on twitter you will know that I was offered to read the first chapter of her book. I was offered to read it, I love Lou's writing and the fact that she wanted me to read her first chapter was really lovely and made me feel a tad emotional. Long story short. It was fantastic and I cant wait for her to release her book into the world and share more of her fantastic writing with you lovely lot.

My latest amazing purchases | Boring haul*

I have gone a little mad on Amazon in the last month and have got quite a few bits. I thought I would share with you what I got, so if you want to be nosey then stick around.

I also want to say that I’m not doing this to be a show off. I wanted to share with you my recent purchases. I worked to get the money to pay for it and even though I got a lot I don’t normally spend this much.

If you are interested in getting any of the bits I mention. Just click on the picture and it will take you to the amazon page where I got them.

The first thing I got wasn’t for me as you can probably tell. I got this little walk vest for my bunny as she had a cut on her back that she was scratching. This meant the wound was opening and getting infected. I got this to stop her scratching and it did a very good job. Her back has now completely healed and she’s one very happy bunny.
This was £5.85 which I thought was a pretty decent price.

The next thing I got was Beauty and the beast on blu ray. I have loved this film for years and Belle is one of my favourite princesses. I must tell you how amazing the quality is, well worth investing in a blu ray player.
The was only £10.

On the same order I also got tangled on blu ray. I really love the film and it looks stunning on blu ray.

This was £9.39.

My rabbit needed to go to the vet because of the cut on her back so I needed to get something to carry her in. I thought a cardboard box which I had previously taken her in just screamed bad pet owner. So I looked around and found this carrier. It’s really easy to put together and it was quite cheap.

This was £8.98.

Sticking with the Disney blu ray theme. I had to get myself this set. I love toy story and I can’t tell you how excited I was to get this and watch all three in one day....Yes that did actually happen.

This was only £19.99.

Yes, you are seeing this right. I did buy M&M's online. I really wanted to try the pretzel ones and we don’t have this flavour in the UK, well we do but only at sweet shops that sell American sweets. So it’s pretty unlikely that I was going to get any near where I live. I have fallen in love with them and if someone wants to send me a big box of these...Well that would be very much appreciated.

 These were £1.29.

Finding nemo was next on the list of Disney films I wanted. I remember going to the cinema to see this when I was little and I loved it.

This was £7.99.

My rabbit has the supreme bunny food and she always clears her food bowl. I wanted to try my guinea pig on the same brand. Cinnamon is such a fussy easy and with the food she normally has, she leaves all the bits she doesn’t want to eat. It’s frustrating because I know that she’s not getting all the nutrients she needs. I wanted to try a small bag first so I got the 1.5kg bag. She scoffs this down like there’s no tomorrow and she always clears the bowl. If any of you have guinea pigs that are fussy eaters. Try this because cinnamon loves it.

 This was £3.99.

My rabbit fearne has been eating this food since I got her and she loves it. The pet shop that sells it charges £5 for 1.5kg so I got a 10kg bag on Amazon for £16.99. It works out a lot cheaper for me as she eats quite a lot.

This was only £16.99.

Another odd purchase from me. You see my room is a mess and my mum’s says it’s a floordrobe. When I need to put clothes in the wash I just chuck them on the floor. I know it’s really bad and messy. I wanted something small that I can just throw everything in. This is actually working for me and I can see my floor now.

 This was £1.69.

After trying my guinea pig on the small bag, I decided to get her the 10kg bag while it was on special. This will last her a good few months at least and it’s well worth the money for me.

This was £19.89.

I have a love for torchwood that will never die. I had to get this on blu ray and I got all the series in one box set. I was really happy with this.

This was only £26.99.

I don’t drink enough water during the day so I found this 2 litre bottle which is really good. I have found that with this I know drink enough water and I can pop this in the fridge to keep it cold while I’m out.

This was £14.99.

The last thing I purchased this month was What if? I love this film and the whole subject. I would highly recommend this to you all. I did a review of this film which you can see right here.

This was only £8.99.

I hope you enjoyed that post.
