What if? | Review

So in England the film 'What if?' has just been released and I could not wait to see it. Obviously being a big Harry Potter fan I really love watching films that the actors go on to star in. One of the thing that I sometimes find difficult is to take them as the characters they are portraying in the films as I personally think its weird seeing them in a completely different role but I was so impressed with performance of all the actors in this film.

The film is based around the theory that you could fall in love with your best friend and it explores the relationship of the characters as you can clearly see these romantic feelings develop. This was the perfect romantic comedy for me because the dialogue was quite Witty and has mimicked some of the friendships I have had with people. I like the humour involved with the film because its very close to my own sense of humour which is mainly being quite witty and sarcastic.

The characters the film is based around are Wallace and Chantry. Wallace is an English medical school drop out who has been hurt in past relationships and decides to put his love life on hold, but when he meets the free spirited animator called Chantry he instantly connects with her. Its clear from their first meeting that they have great chemistry and are perfect for each other. Unfortunately for Wallace Chantry is in a committed long term relationship. It explores their friendship and Wallace's thoughts on whether or not he should throw caution to the wind and express how he really feels.

I really loved the dialogue between the two characters and you can tell that Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan have a great chemistry together in real life as in some films the dialogue just doesn't seem believable because he actors who are speaking it don't have that chemistry on set. I loved how well Daniel and Zoe just made this seem effortless. In some romantic comedies I find myself cringing at certain parts but this one was different maybe because it used humour that I get love or maybe it was just simply the wonderful story.

I think because secretly we have all been in Wallace's situation, we find someone who is basically another version of ourselves who we have a great chemistry with but there's always something stopping us from telling that person who we feel. For Wallace its because Chantry has a boyfriend but it can be for other reason like not wanting to ruin a perfectly good friendship and I think this is also one of the things Wallace worries about spoiling.

I don't want to ruin the plot for anyone so if you haven't seen it then I would advise you not to read on. So Wallace and chantry continue their friendship which is in my opinion quirky and cute. Chantry's boyfriend is offered a job which involves him moving to Dublin for six months, Chantry wants him to go as its a great opportunity. Wallace confides in his friend who introduced him to Chantry as he is her cousin and it s really lovely seeing him in this dilemma of what to do. Chantry and Wallace share everything and its clear that Chantry loves Wallace but obviously she's in a relationship and it would be wrong to act on those feelings as she does love her boyfriend but she has developed a love for Wallace as well. Long story short at the end of the film they both get married which is really sweet.

In the film Wallace has to make a best man speech and I have to mention it as I think its really cute and just lovely "It's very easy to be cynical about love until you've had that instant connection. If you're lucky, it happens once in a lifetime."

This might not be the film for you but if you love a good romantic comedy with a lot of wit and banter in it then I would recommend this film. This is suck a lovely story and relationship between the characters is really nice to watch and see develop.

So have any of you seen this film, I know in the USA its probably already been released on DVD but in the UK its just come out. If you have seen this film what are your opinions of it, do you like the story and the characters. Let me know in the comments.

Bye for now xxx
