Chocolate shortbread

Over the past few weeks I have been in baking mode, so today I made a batch of chocolate shortbread biscuits. Now I could have made them sort of healthy if I didn't drizzle chocolate over them, but considering my baking sometimes tastes quite bland, I felt it needed a chocolatey kick.

I found my recipe on http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/shortbread_1290, this gave me the recipe and I decided to add the chocolate. Now if you want to go over to the website to follow just click the link. I will go through how I made it and will add my photos to see how I attempted to make them.

Now I just thought I would mention that today I actually had all of the ingredients, so I am actually following the recipe properly.

Ingredients you will need;
125g Butter

55g Caster sugar (you will need extra for the top of the biscuits.).

180g Plain flour
Chocolate bars (I used 2 small bars)

Equipment you will need;
Pre-heated oven at 190C.
Mixing bowl.
Spoon.
Sieve.
Cooling rack.
Greased baking tray.
Rolling pin.
Biscuit cutters (I used round cutters, but you can use any shape you want.).

Step 1;
Get all your ingredients ready and weighed.

Step 2;
Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl until it looks like a smooth paste.

Step 3;
Sift the flour into the butter and sugar paste and mix it all together until it looks like a soft dough.

Step 3;
Dust your work surface with flour and roll out your dough, then cut out your biscuits and put them on a plate.
When you have cut out all the biscuits you can use a fork to make little holes in the biscuits (You don't have to do this, but I did just for presentation.). Dust the biscuit with sugar and place in the fridge to cool.

Step 4;
After about 10 minutes take the biscuits out of the fridge and then bake in the oven for around 15-20 minutes. Take them out when they are a light golden brown and let let them cool.

Step 5;
While your biscuits cool melt your chocolate in a bowl and then use a piping bag (you can just use a spoon)  to drizzle the chocolate on the biscuit's. I then placed the biscuits in the fridge for the chocolate to cool.

Well I'm actually quite happy with how these turned out and will be snacking on a few (I will try not to eat them all) while watching Harry Potter tonight.

Bye for now xxx
