Chocolate brownies

So a few days ago I found myself craving chocolate brownies, now I never normally have the right ingredients to bake, but luckily I had everything I needed (well I needed plain flour but I only had self-raising, it can't effect the bake that much.).

I attempted to make brownies a few months ago but when they were cooked they didn't really look like they should and they were still a bit gooey, but they did taste nice.

I used a brownie recipe allrecipes.co.uk and because I didn't have all the right ingredients I just used this recipe as a starting point and just added whatever I could find. If you prefer to follow the recipe from the website I used, just follow the link. I'm going to add step by step pictures just so you can get an idea of what your cake should be like after each step.

So here is how I made them, I have listed all the ingredients and the different Ingredients that I just added.

Basic Chocolate brownie recipe;

170g plain chocolate

115g butter
225g soft brown sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
170g plain flour
100g chocolate chips

equipment you will need;
2 mixing bowls
A bowl of simmering water (If you are a child then ask someone to help with this part.).
Greased baking tin - 20 x 30 cm is ideal.
Pre-heated oven at 180 C/ Gas mark 4.
Spoons to mix (If you have an electric hand whisk, that will make it easier.).
Chopping board.
Cooling rack.

If you have all the right ingredients, then I would advise you actually stick to the recipe, but I don't think it really matters what type of flour or sugar you use. Instead of plain flour I used self raising, I didn't have brown sugar so I used caster sugar and I decided to use Milka chocolate instead of chocolate chips.

Step 1;

Get all of your equipment ready and pre-heat the over to 180 C/ Gas mark 4.

Step 2;

Break 180grams of dark chocolate into a bowl, then put the bowl over the simmering water, stir occasionally until the chocolate has completely melted (Be careful when doing this, as I did burn myself a few times.).

Step 2;

Cream 115g of butter and 225g of sugar together in a large bowl (I didn't have another mixing bowl so I used a a giant tea cup).

Step 3;

Add your melted chocolate and 1tsp of vanilla to the butter and cream mixture, and mix all the ingredients together.

Step 4;

Break the eggs into the bowl and beat with a fork. Then add 170g of flour, and make sure this is all mixed in and there are no lumps of flour or egg. 

Step 5;

Add 100g of chocolate chips, or whatever sweets or chocolate you want (I imagine M&M's would be nice.) and then mix well.

Step 6;
Put the mixture onto a greased baking tray (I used tin foil instead). Place into the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 7;
When the brownies are cooked, take them out of the oven and leave to cool. Once your brownie's are cool, cut into 12 and enjoy (Maybe not 12 in one go, but I wouldn't blame you are they are delicious.).
