Chocolate brownies

So a few days ago I found myself craving chocolate brownies, now I never normally have the right ingredients to bake, but luckily I had everything I needed (well I needed plain flour but I only had self-raising, it can't effect the bake that much.).

I attempted to make brownies a few months ago but when they were cooked they didn't really look like they should and they were still a bit gooey, but they did taste nice.

I used a brownie recipe allrecipes.co.uk and because I didn't have all the right ingredients I just used this recipe as a starting point and just added whatever I could find. If you prefer to follow the recipe from the website I used, just follow the link. I'm going to add step by step pictures just so you can get an idea of what your cake should be like after each step.

So here is how I made them, I have listed all the ingredients and the different Ingredients that I just added.

Basic Chocolate brownie recipe;

170g plain chocolate

115g butter
225g soft brown sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
170g plain flour
100g chocolate chips

equipment you will need;
2 mixing bowls
A bowl of simmering water (If you are a child then ask someone to help with this part.).
Greased baking tin - 20 x 30 cm is ideal.
Pre-heated oven at 180 C/ Gas mark 4.
Spoons to mix (If you have an electric hand whisk, that will make it easier.).
Chopping board.
Cooling rack.

If you have all the right ingredients, then I would advise you actually stick to the recipe, but I don't think it really matters what type of flour or sugar you use. Instead of plain flour I used self raising, I didn't have brown sugar so I used caster sugar and I decided to use Milka chocolate instead of chocolate chips.

Step 1;

Get all of your equipment ready and pre-heat the over to 180 C/ Gas mark 4.

Step 2;

Break 180grams of dark chocolate into a bowl, then put the bowl over the simmering water, stir occasionally until the chocolate has completely melted (Be careful when doing this, as I did burn myself a few times.).

Step 2;

Cream 115g of butter and 225g of sugar together in a large bowl (I didn't have another mixing bowl so I used a a giant tea cup).

Step 3;

Add your melted chocolate and 1tsp of vanilla to the butter and cream mixture, and mix all the ingredients together.

Step 4;

Break the eggs into the bowl and beat with a fork. Then add 170g of flour, and make sure this is all mixed in and there are no lumps of flour or egg.

Step 5;

Add 100g of chocolate chips, or whatever sweets or chocolate you want (I imagine M&M's would be nice.) and then mix well.

Step 6;
Put the mixture onto a greased baking tray (I used tin foil instead). Place into the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 7;
When the brownies are cooked, take them out of the oven and leave to cool. Once your brownie's are cool, cut into 12 and enjoy (Maybe not 12 in one go, but I wouldn't blame you are they are delicious.).

The 24 questions/ 12 personal questions tag!

 today I saw this tag on a blog I started reading and I thought it would be fun to do. I really enjoy reading this blog and here's the link;

The fault in our stars | Review

Since the film is due out later this year, I thought I would do a review of "The fault in our stars" by John Green before the film comes out. It normally takes me a few chapters to really love a book but within the first few pages I was hooked. The book is about a girl called Hazel and how she meets a boy called Augustus at her cancer support group. I love this book, not only for the love story that it creates, but I love how John Green has managed to write a book that is focused around cancer which showed me what it must be like to live with it, obviously no one can ever understand what cancer patients go through but I feel the book gives us an insight.

I don't cry a lot but this book had me in tears, you see life through Hazels eyes and it certainly made me appreciate what I have. The other thing about this book that I loved was how Hazel and Augustus bond not only through their illness but over their fascination with a book. The ending was heartbreaking but the journey the characters take is breathtaking. If you haven't read it yet, you should definitely give it a read. My favourite quote would be "My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.”

I wish I was at McBusted

I am a very big fan of McFly and was desperate to get tickets to McBusted when they went on sale. There were two reasons I couldn't go, the first was because I had no one to go with and as much as I love McFly I didn't fancy going to the O2 arena by myself. The second reason was that the tickets were £50 and then my travel to and from London would have cost me to much.
The one thing that makes me less annoyed that I couldn't go is that I got to see McBusted performance at the Royal Albert Hall when Mcfly performed for four nights to celebrate 10 years as a band. So although I wish I was there (I have seen so many amazing pictures on twitter, and people have said how great it was.) I still have the knowledge that I saw the second ever performance McBusted played to a live audience.
Sorry for the random post

Billy and me | Review

Billy and me by Giovanna Fletcher is a beautifully written novel about a girl called Sophie and how she copes with her life when she is put in the public eye after falling in love with her boyfriend, Billy. Her is a small extract from the blurb "Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?".
I absolutely love this book because it shows Sophie's relationship with Billy, her mum and her friend Molly. I also love the book because Sophie is just a regular girl who meets the love of her life in her small home town. I love that there are different topics within the book, it talks about Sophie's childhood, and how her relationship with her loved ones changes over time.
Not to spoil the ending, but you find out Sophie's secret which she has kept from Billy and the new world she's been caught up in, and you then start to understand why Sophie didn't want to leave her mum and go to university. I think Giovanna was able to use some of her own knowledge of being in the public eye to give a lot of depth to Sophie and to show that its not always easy to be with a celebrity.
I would strongly advise people to read this book as it is so well written and you can really connect on some levels with all the characters. In may 2014 Giovanna Fletcher is releasing her second book called "You're the one that I want", I can't wait to get my copy and no doubt fall in love with her new book.

Do you want build a snowman?

After waiting for what seems like forever I finally have Frozen on DVD. I only finished watching it about an hour ago which seems quite late considering it was out at the cinema months ago (I could have gone to see it, but I don't have much of a social life....is that weird, probably but oh well). It is such an amazing film and the songs are beautifully written and sung.
I love the whole idea around this film that shows the relationship Between Elsa and Anna and how it breaks down at different points in the film. My favourite characters in Frozen have to be Elsa because I think personality wise I connect better with the character of Elsa. Apart from that I love Kristoff, Anna and Olaf (So basically I love all the main characters, I should have just written that really. Oh well, think of these sentences in brackets as my inner monologue.).
Simply on the basis that you're probably getting bored, I'll end this post shortly. My favourite song from this film is Let it go because I love the scene that goes with it.
If you got to the end of this post, thanks for reading

To excited about nail varnish?

So yesterday my sister got me two of the Tanya burr nail varnishes that I have been obsessed with getting since she brought out her nail varnish and lip gloss range. My sister got me two colours which were bright and early and little duck. I think these colours are perfect for spring and summer. I love both colours but little duck is my favourite just because I love the minty greeny blue (yes that is a new colour).
I wasn't sure what they would be like, because some nail varnishes that I have had in the past have a very fast drying time which is bad because it dries virtually the second you apply it and it looks streaky, but I was pleasantly surprised as the Tanya burr nail varnish range is really good. It has a good drying time and to me the brush looks thinner than others like my Barry M polishes, because the brush is slightly thinner it makes it so much easier to get the perfect look on my nails as you can apply it in the corner of your nails without the colour getting onto your finger.
I would recommend these nail varnishes to everyone and I am hoping to get a few more colours from her range in mini marshmallows and penguin chic.
Thanks for reading

Disney song's on repeat

Recently all I have been listening to is Disney, I listened to a three hour YouTube video which had a collection of the best Disney songs ever made. I don't know why I have been so into the music lately but to me Disney films are like a comfort, I wonder if anyone else thinks that? oh well, I think because when I was little I was Disney obsessed and I still sort of am now; that's a lie, I am still completely  obsessed with Disney, to be honest while I am writing this I can see 5 Disney cushions on my bed and a lovely princess lullaby ornament I have had since I was about six. So anyone reading this, do you still love all things Disney or am I very late to let go of the Disney magic I grew up with.

Bye xx

Welcome to my blog, I probably have the worst name for a blog but it seems all the best usernames are taken. I think my blog name sums me up well; I get nothing done based on the fact that I spend most of my time daydreaming. To be honest I don't lead an exciting life but I thought I could write about the bits and bobs I like, so expect to see a lot of blog's about doctor who, music, books and baking. Sometimes there may be posts about nail art and random thoughts that pop into my head. I'll be writing a new post every week and maybe midweek as well.
